Among the numerous coupons issued in Lodz, this 2.50 mark coupon for a lottery, to be held after June 1944, is worthy of special attention. The profit from the sale of tickets would help establish a health care fund in the ghetto. The coupon is signed by the 'Committee for the Sick'. This coupon is rubber stamped on the rear. The coupon offers 1000 valuable prizes. It is not difficult to imagine the prized awaaiting the lucky lottery winners in the Spring of 1944, in the midst of hundreds of daily transports to the death camps, Auschwitz and Chelmno, near Lodz.
