This lot features a complete set of tabbed stamps from Israel's 1948 Doar Ivri issue, encompassing Scott #1-9. Originating from a complete Imaba sheet, these stamps showcase a unique and rare type of perforation: the low-value stamps with perforations of 10 at the base, while the high-value stamps exhibit tabs perforated 10X10, with an additional perf 10 at the base. It's essential to note that these high-value tabs are not short tabs, highlighting their exceptional rarity.

Postal History
1949 International mail - Heavily franked Doar Ivri official Reg. cover . Originally a Palestine Mandate envelope that was reused by the State of Israel's Department of Telegraph & Telephones, the envelope displays crossed-out print with new information above. This exemplifies a practical approach to recycling stationery in official postal communication. The item speedily traveled via registered airmail to the Manager of the Israeli Supply Mission at 250 West 57th Street, New York 19, NY, USA. Remarkably, it reached its destination in just a week, arriving in New York on June 8, 1949 (demonstrating a level of efficiency that might cause a slight eyebrow raise among today's postal services). The envelope features a mixed franking, comprising a variety of stamps: one 10 mil Doar Ivri (Sc. 3), thirty-one 15 mil Doar Ivri (arranged in four vertical strips), one 50 mil Doar Ivri (Sc. 6), and ten 20 mil Israel flag stamps (Sc. 15). The cover, destined for the USA, bears a total of 725 prutot worth of postage stamps. It weighs approximately 250 grams and includes stamps covering both the base rate for weight (700 prutot) and the registration fee (25 prutot). These stamps, displayed in multiples and arranged around the right and bottom edges, are canceled by the 'Hakirya' departure postmark dated June 1st, 1949. On the reverse side, the envelope bears marks of censorship and two distinct arrival postmarks from New York: a violet circular 'New York NY / Radio City Str.' and an oval black 'NY', both dated June 8, 1949.

Postal History
Rare 1949 Israeli International Cover: Complete Rows with 50mil Doar Ivri Tabs. On June 24, 1949, the Ministry of Transportation dispatched a high-rate international large cover from Tel Aviv Israel. The total rate of the cover is 1,400 mil, reflecting its weight (500 grams). It bears an assortment of Doar Ivri 50mil stamps arranged in sheet rows, giving the impression of a complete sheet, totaling 28 stamps. The bottom two rows feature complete tabs, while the top row includes almost the full row of the right corner with the corner markings on the selvage (serial no. 1 in a triangle on top and rectangle). The stamps were canceled with a few cds from HAKIRYA in Tel Aviv on June 27, 1949. Additional franking on this cover includes '51' and '3'. The incomplete address is visible on this roughly shaped cover, reading "... 57th Street, New York 17, NY, USA." It is understood that the intended recipient's address was for the "Government of Israel Supply Mission, 250 West 57th St. NY 19. (dimensions of the envelope are 24.5cm x 200cm). Given the substantial weight of the cover, requiring a high rate of 1,400 mil, it's likely that the large envelope was specifically intended for the Government of Israel Supply Mission in New York, suggesting its probable use by the recipient.

It was sent with two stamps; one was torn off, and there's an arrival stamp from the German Klan dated 27.8.98, making it a rare item.

1948, Bank Notes of Israel: The Levin Epstein Proof Notes - printing offer. In 1948, during the nascent stages of Israel's statehood, local printing houses vied for the opportunity to produce banknotes for the fledgling nation. Among them, the "Levin-Epstein" design emerged, presenting a prototype on simple paper. One side featured a portrait of a young girl (Epstein's daughter) amidst a bouquet of flowers, while the other depicted an ancient shekel. In the absence of a finalized design for the currency, the notes bore the name of the Dapod House. Though most examples were later destroyed, a few individual copies have endured, rendering this piece a rarity in philatelic circles.
